This study, co-authored by famed scientists from the National Cancer Institute of the US Government, elucidates the signal transduction mechanism of a major human cancer-causing gene. 27 years later, this information obtained in vitro, was used to “heal” the same cancer-causing gene as described above. In addition, information from this study was instrumental in the design of Herceptin, a major anti-cancer drug belonging to the class of the so-called biological or immunotherapeutic anti-cancer drug. As of today, this study has been cited by 241 other peer-reviewed articles.
